Pillowcase Project

In collaboration with the Cool Kids Campaign, our sewing students participated in a “Spreading Some Cheer” community sharing project this past December. This project evolved because of our sewing students desire to take what they were learning and use it to spread some cheer to children, who due to an illness, spent long periods of time in and out of the hospital. Pillowcases are one of the first sewing projects that our students learn and they loved using their creativity to make something useful and really fun. The Cool Kids Campaign is an organization devoted to improving the quality of life for pediatric oncology patients and their families by focusing on the academic, social and emotional needs brought on by a cancer diagnosis. Our students spent 3 months working hard both in and out of the classroom and on December 10, 2020, approximately 50 pillowcases were delivered. It was such a great day for our students.

“ Being able to be a part of this project has been so great. I am so happy right now”

Aisha Jibril - sewing student.
